S METER

S meter on my Kenwood TS-430S dosent want to move much when in the recive mode...I changed out the meter with no luck in working any better...Works fine when transmitting...Can anyone tell me why it dont swing much at all...My Cobra 2000 swings fine in the recive mode...big differance between the two radios...Can anyone help...73s...JAMES

Eliminate the simple things, make sure the attenuator is not turned on.  That is either 12 or 18 or 20db attenuation if it is, depending on the radio.

Sorry to state the obvious, but if the attenuator is off, make sure your RF gain is all the way up.  
 

Otherwise it may just be out of calibration.
